Chelsea have reached a pre-agreement with Molde for the signing of David Datro Fofana.
The Athletic reported earlier this month that the two clubs were in advanced negotiations over a deal for the 20-year-old.
A fee of more than €10million is thought to have been agreed with the two teams as Fofana looks set to become Graham Potter’s first signing as head coach of the west London club.
The Ivory Coast striker will join Potter’s side when the transfer window officially opens on January 1.
Chelsea confirmed in a statement: “Chelsea FC has reached a pre-agreement with Molde FK for the transfer of David Datro Fofana.
“The 20-year-old striker will join the Blues on 1 January 2023. We look forward to welcoming David to the club!”

News of Fofana’s impending arrival comes after striker Armando Broja was ruled out for the rest of the season due to sustaining a knee injury in a friendly against Aston Villa.
Broja’s injury left Chelsea with Kai Havertz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as the club’s only No 9 options.
Last season, Fofana scored 17 goals in 29 appearances for Molde in all competitions.
Having only played in Europe so far in 2022-23, he has netted four times in 10 Europa Conference League matches.
Chelsea play Nottingham Forest away in the Premier League this Sunday.
